Tires are an interesting product for storage. On one hand, they will last during a lengthy storage if kept in optimal temperatures. On the other hand, they can develop "flat spots" if time and care aren't taken to ensure that the tires are properly stored. There is a bit of a debate as to whether tires should be stores vertically or horizontally. Tires can be stacked side-by-side or aligned vertically, but will develop these flat spots either way unless they are stored on proper decking.
Vertical stacking is better for the life of the tires, as horizontal stacking wears on the sidewalls of the tires and causes them to wear excessively.
