Truck tire racks have helped many tire companies with storing very big tires that are awkward and difficult to handle.

In recent times, Tier-Rack has started designing and manufacturing truck tire racks to store truck tires, bus tires, Off-The-Road tires, (OTR tires) Sport Utility Vehicle tires (SUV tires) and All-Terrain-Vehicle tires (ATV tires) for tire companies. Truck tire racks are mobile racks that can be moved very easily with the average forklift. These storage racks are also designed to stack up to 4 high when fully loaded which means you need a minimum of 22 feet of warehouse ceiling height to utilize their full capability.

Truck Tire Racks

The truck tire rack is larger and constructed with heavier tubing compared to passenger tire rack. The main differences between these two racks are the number of tires that can be stored. Passenger tire racks have a tire capacity of 24 to 32 tires while truck tire racks hold approximately 12 tires per rack. For this reason tire companies stress that stack rack manufactures design racks that take up the least amount of room in their warehouse and still store as many tires as possible.

We often have to answer the question: How should we store our tires in order to ensure that they have the longest shelf life and greatest saleability?  Well, we listened, and have a few tips for you.  As a company that has been making stacking racks for storage of...well...everything since 1955, we have a few ideas on how to safely keep a warehouse filled with tires.

Tip 1 - Weight is an enemy.  Don't believe for a second that because they are heavy, tires can have things stacked on top of them.  Tires are, by their nature, extremely malleable.  They can compress and warp under pressure, causing them to lose their shape and compromising the integrity of the rubber in extreme cases.  This can cause tires to age prematurely and come apart on the wheel, an obviously undesirable outcome.

Tip 2 - Heat is another enemy.  Store tires in a cool, dry environment that doesn't vary from this.  Storing tires in a hot, moist room exposes the tires to undue wear and can reduce their effectiveness.  The warmth makes the rubber MORE malleable, causing even more damage than would normally be seen.  Warehouses that operate warmer and moister than others are subject to greater tire decay than those in more temperate environments.

Keep to these simple tips and you can add months or years of storage time to your tires, ensuring higher profits and more bountiful sales.

Tier-Rack has been the leader in storage rack technology since 1955, when they invented the stack rack.  This technology has given companies the world over the tools to transform and configure their warehouses into efficient, profitable parts of their business.  Let Tier-Rack quote you on your warehouse needs today.  Call (800) 325-7869 and visit www.tier-rack.com to find out the Tier-Rack difference.

Here's a list of rules that your tire warehouse should always make sure to follow to ensure proper safety when using Tier-Rack's tire racks.

Always maintain a clean warehouse

This means floors, aisles, shelves, whatever.  Take the time to ensure that your warehouse walkways and storage areas are free from clutter that can cause accidents, and don't have potential spill areas for slip and falls

Ensure that cables are covered.  Don't assume that people will always see cables stretched across the floor or walkways

Pace yourselves - running in a warehouse or working yourselves to the point of exhaustion are both false hustle mistakes.  There's no reason to run or work tired.  They can wait on their tire for the 2 minutes it takes to walk, and your manager needs to schedule you for breaks.

Make sure that the warehouse is always well ventilated, keeping airflow during the summer and heat in the winter can mean the difference between a safe worker and a costly sickness or injury.

These are just a few examples of how a little pre-planning can help solve the major problems of warehouse work.  Ensuring warehouse safety means that everyone can work effectively and efficiently.  This will make your business more profitable and a better place to work.

Since 1955, Tier-Rack Corp has used their Tier-Rack storage system to store tires, boxes, fabric, pipe,  elecronics, bicycles, furniture, food, beverages, and almost any product that can be kept in a warehouse.  Any company that uses pallets can use this product, which stacks frames on top of your existing wood pallets to create  vertical space. These will allow a company to stack 3 to 5 loads of crushable of fragile products, as well as  awkward, non-stackable product.

When the frames aren't being utilized, they take up a small amount of space, folding down to conserve your  precious warehouse space.

Overstacking a rack is dangerous. whether it's for tires, general goods, giant coils, grains, or whatever, there's a weight limit that your rack was built to specifications for.  This weight limit, however, isn't always easy for warehouse managers to convey to their employees, regardless of how important it is to warehouse safety.  There may be a missing link in the chain of information, where the manager creates a sign which is covered by something else, or the lessons get lost in the shuffle of employee turnover.  However, this important lesson needs to be imparted at every level, as no company can afford for their inventory to crash to the floor.

Overstacking isn't the only problem though.  Racks can be weakened by collisions with forklifts, by improper stacking, by being in improper configurations or environments, or they may arrive in an unsatisfactory condition.  This last one, however, is one that Tier-Rack Corp can fix.  Every rack manufactured by Tier-Rack Corporation meets their highest safety and manufacturing specs, and are manufactured here, in the United States, of the finest metals and techniques at their manufacturing factories.

Tier-Rack Corporation has been a leader in rack solutions and flexible warehouse racking systems for almost sixty years. The original Tier-Rack® pallet stacking frame converts regular warehouse pallets into sturdy storage racks in seconds without screws or bolts. And the Load-Nester® all-steel storage rack features light and heavy duty models of solid all-welded, knock-down, or nestable designs for all your material handling needs. Our portable stacking racks and rack systems are designed to handle and store even the most fragile, odd-shaped, and awkward merchandise. They can be designed to transport two loads at a time. Our stack racks reduce handling time, stack four to six high, and they are capable of supporting thousands of pounds per unit load. All Tier-Rack racks are engineered with a "2-to-1" safety factor to ensure the racks will perform safely and last for decades.  For more information, visit www.tier-rack.com today.
