Tires can be a difficult storage issue.  As a product, they are malleable and soft, yet need to be perfectly round and flawless for customers to avoid blowouts.  An improperly stored tire is a ticking time bomb that can lead to blowouts, accidents, and deaths.  Finding the medium between storing tires safely and cost efficiency can be hard to discover.

rack2That's where Tier-Rack Corporation can help.  Tires can be stored on racks, but is there another way to store tires effectively in a rack besides straight up and down or stacked?  The Tier-Rack Tire Rack Basket answers this question.  Wire baskets across the boards of the racks hold tires in place safly, while the wires are spaced to create a safe landing area that supports and cradles the tires, keeping them from developing "dead spots" and warping.  This ensures that whether tires are being stored for customer use or as part of fleet maintenance, that all tires will be stored safely.

Since 1955, Tier-Rack Corp has used their Tier-Rack storage system to store tires, boxes, fabric, pipe, elecronics, bicycles, furniture, food, beverages, and almost any product that can be kept in a warehouse.  Any company that uses pallets can use this product, which stacks frames on top of your existing wood pallets to create vertical space. These will allow a company to stack 3 to 5 loads of crushable of fragile products, as well as awkward, non-stackable product.

When the frames aren't being utilized, they take up a small amount of space, folding down to conserve your precious warehouse space.

Tire businesses across the world have a space problem. There aren't a lot of ways to keep tires stored that do no damage and are space efficient.  Stacking tires isn't effective, as it creates soft spots and wear patterns, and causes the tires to become lopsided and wobbly.  This makes mounting the tires difficult, and even dangerous.  Tires worn in patterns or that are lopsided can blow while driving, an extremely dangerous proposition.

Rack1Tier-Rack has solved this.  Warehouses and other businesses that need to store tire racks vertically can use the Tier-Rack Stack Rack, or Tier Tire Racks.  These stackable racks allow companies to store tires vertically, creating "stacks" that safely and securely store tires.  These custom-designed racks allow for both safety and ease of access for storage of tires, creating a warehouse that employees can easily access their tires from.  This makes warehouses safer and more efficient, saving money and time, and protecting both your inventory and your employees.

Bus companies have some of the highest maintenance bills in any industry.  They are responsible for keeping thousands of travelers healthy daily, and have to spend to keep their vehicles safe and operational.   Most bus companies have mechanics on site, but what about tires?  How do bus companies store the hundreds of tires that they go through weekly, all of which are large, heavy, and malleable, and must be stored throughout all seasons?

bus tire rack, bus tire racksTier-Rack Bus tire racks can help.  Tier-Rack has experienced engineers that can create custom racks for every tire, giving bus companies stackable storage for their bus tires, creating space and keeping the tires that transport their customers from warping and ruining the tires.  Tier-Rack has created hundreds of customized racks for every shape and size of tire, using wire mesh and perforated decking to support the tires while keeping them from warping during long periods of non-use.

Tires are an interesting product for storage.  On one hand, they will last during a lengthy storage if kept in optimal temperatures.  On the other hand, they can develop "flat spots" if time and care aren't taken to ensure that the tires are properly stored.  There is a bit of a debate as to whether tires should be stores vertically or horizontally.  Tires can be stacked side-by-side or aligned vertically, but will develop these flat spots either way unless they are stored on proper decking.

Tire Rack, Tire RacksVertical stacking is better for the life of the tires, as horizontal stacking wears on the sidewalls of the tires and causes them to wear excessively.  Vertical storage is easier on the tires, but can create a flat spot in the tire if left on a flat surface for too long.  Tier-Rack tire racks are designed to alleviate this issue.  Tier-Rack offers wire mesh decking and perforated decking, both of which leave holes that allow the tire to rest in a way that won't cause a flat spot on your tire, and the wire and holes are spaced out to avoid leaving marks on the tires.

If the tires are to be used quickly, horizontal tire stacking is perfectly acceptable, but can cause the "beads" to set too close together, making the tires difficult to mount and inflate.  Other tips for tire storage include storing them in a cool, dry place.  Your hot storeroom doesn't make a great place to store a malleable rubber product.  Try to keep them away from motors, generators, and furnaces, as these produce ozone that can age your tires.  Stack "white rubber" tires together to avoid staining.  And store the tires in a way that they won't collect moisture.  Unless you're into mildew.

As a product, one would think that a tire should be easy to store.  You buy them, you stick them in a warehouse, and you sell them.  Easy as pie.  However, the way that tires are stored has a HUGE effect on their appearance, durability, and value.  There are several different styles of decking that store the tires in different ways.  You can choose between perforated decking, wire decking, and no decking.

Tire Rack, Tire RacksPerforated decking has a solid hole to decking ratio.  This ratio of holes to solid deck will give solid support to the tires and will leave racked tires unmarked in the rack.  These also are fire codeapproved, as they allow water to sluice through the decking, allowing fires below and around the racks to be extinguished.  Wire mesh decking is less expensive than perforated decking, and leaves larger openings in the decking.  If you don't plan on keeping stock on hand for long periods, this is a great option, as you want for the tires to have little time for the wire to leave marks on the tires.  The least expensive way to store your tires is with no decking at all.  Tier-Rack Corp engineers can design your racks with the inner and outer rack beams aligned to hold your particular tire, however, this works best when people will not be standing on the racks as they load or unload: the beams are not designed to support people securely.
